Cameo – Feel Me

Now fully in funk territory, Cameo’s 1980 album Feel Me was their sixth album, and all six were made within a four year span. Granted, they started to run out of ideas toward the end of their first run, but Feel Me has classics like Keep It Hot and other choice cuts like the title track. Once a 14-piece band known as the New York Players led by drummer Larry Blackmon, Cameo would become very successful later in the 80’s, but this album from the middle of their longest successful period exhibits the straightforward funk that Cameo could pull off. Recorded at H&L Sound Studios in Englewood Cliffs, NJ! Carla says, “Do you think Bruno Mars listened to this record?”
