David Sanborn – Voyeur

Voyeur was released in 1981 and moves between hard funk with horns and smooth alto saxophone, depending on whether its composed by David Sanborn, who plays alto sax, or Marcus Miller, who plays bass or Moog bass on all the tracks. Sanborn and Miller share songwriting credits evenly and play Rhodes on whichever song they composed.

Steve Gadd plays drums and Hiram Bullock takes most of the guitar duties along with Buzz Feitsen. An Oberheim OB-X and Prophet-5 are also used sparingly. Miller’s All I Need Is You won the Grammy for best R&B performance. The musicians all do a terrific job and it sounds great, particularly Marcus Miller’s bass.
