Earl Klugh – Heart String

Earl Klugh, Heart String. It was owned by somebody named White, who marked up the inside cover and wrote his name on the label too. Did White buy it in 1979? Was he a kid, claiming an Earl Klugh record for himself and protecting it from a younger brother? An acoustic guitar player, hoping to play this for his lady? This is light listening sounds of the 70’s, with Greg Phillinganes on piano and Ralph McDonald hand drumming. Earl Klugh is a terrific guitarist though, and the album is impressive for that alone. It can sound very schmaltzy and occasionally boring, but some arrangements like Acoustic Lady will surprise you. I find it difficult to focus on this music for very long, the mind wanders.
