FM – Movie Soundtrack

This was my first movie soundtrack purchase, and mostly because its title song was written and composed by Steely Dan, FM (No Static At All), a great song recorded during the sessions for Aja. For $4, sure, its a soundtrack to a movie I’ve never seen about FM radio DJs fighting the system and the music is mostly terrible. The tagline is “A Now Story With Now Music” and its a vacuous collection of music from 1976-1977, except for Do It Again, Bob Seger’s Night Moves and Steve Miller Band’s Fly Like an Eagle. But I don’t want to hear at least 75% of the songs on this album ever again. Both Boston and Foreigner make an appearance on this soundtrack. But why did I buy an album just to be shitty toward so much of it? I don’t know. It even comes with a terrible promo, only making me feel worse and disgusted by the thing. For a long time this was the only classic rock I owned, and I kept it that way, but this is mostly trash. You can tell just by looking at it. What a waste.
