When Missy Elliot performed at the Super Bowl in 2015, it was thrilling. After a low point, even for the NFL, Missy walked onto a big stage and showed what an entertainer can do. For most of my youth Missy Elliot made cool hip-hop songs with the coolest music videos. Gossip Folks has a great beat from Timbaland, amazing lines from Missy about haters like “I know ya’ll poor ya’ll broke/Ya’ll job just hanging up clothes” and was released in 2002. I believe this song has universal appeal and could definitely improve people’s moods if they were standing in line or waiting for the next set. Gossip Folks reached No. 8 on the Billboard charts at its peak, and No. 2 on the Hip-Hop charts.
