Salsoul Orchestra – Greatest Disco Hits: Music For Non-Stop Dancing

The Salsoul Records label, and the Salsoul Orchestra, were responsible for a lot of the disco sound in the 70’s. And this album is just a continuous mix of that sound and employs “disco-blending”, or slip-cuing, where the songs transition immediately to the next, more or less smoothly. It is interesting to hear how the Salsoul Orchestra, created after members left Philadelphia International following disputes with Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff, pretty much defined the disco sound on these records, all collected on this album. Most of the songs are written by Vincent Montana, Jr., feature the Ronny Baker – Norman Harris – Earl Young trio, and were released between 1975 and 1977.
