The Love Unlimited Orchestra – Rhapsody in White

What a Soul record this is, from one of the best Soul groups. The Love Unlimited Orchestra is best known for backing the man, The Prince of Pillow Talk, Barry White; he also wrote produced, conducted and arranged many of the songs on this album. Everything is immaculate on Rhapsody in White, including the Walrus of Love himself on the cover. The album was released in 1974 and went gold, while the proto-disco Love’s Theme, a gold single itself, was released in 1973 and is notable for being a rare Billboard No. 1 that is purely instrumental. Fun fact, Love’s Theme was also used as the intro for the ABC Sports golf broadcasts of the 70’s. No Soul collection is complete without some Barry White, that’s for sure.
